In today’s unpredictable world, theft continues to increase as we speak. It is for this reason that more and more people are looking for insurance.
Hardware insurance is a world that is slowly disintegrating into a necessity as more and more people continue to get it for expensive purchases. And according to a Google search, the iPhone topped the search list in terms of the electronics people are most keen to protect.
In case you didn’t know, the Great Black Friday Sale in the UK really made many realize that people just can’t keep their hands off iPhones and PlayStations. This made up the majority of the sales that we saw, which includes nearly $9 billion.
Unfortunately, it is these gadgets that are mostly stolen by thieves which is why consumers are now turning to device insurance to get away from such mishaps as the holiday season approaches.
iPhone insurance really came out on top in One Sure’s list of searches starting in November this year. It hit 40,000 and then the Google Pixel came next at just 1,500. Other searches included the likes of cameras and laptops. This was 12,000 pieces during that period.
These types of studies only go to show how careful people are to protect themselves from harm. And while you might think it’s not brand-related, the iPhone is the flagship of the bunch.
Meanwhile, the study by One Sure showed that gadgets like Xbox, Drone, Tabs, AirPods, and PlayStation ranked next for device insurance in Google search results.
The speaker leading the study by One Sure mentioned how the holiday season sees a lot of people making huge purchases during the season. Whether they are loved ones or friends, people are the most generous during this time of the year. Which is why most thefts happen now, too.
And while you may forget about gadgets when insurance policies go into effect, the current security situation is a wake-up call that some insurance-related policies should include gadgets, too. After all, how could one think of replacing a stolen item?
On average, seven out of ten device thefts happen when a person is away from their place of residence. And you would be surprised to learn how 40% of smartphone-related thefts happen when using public transportation.
People will go to major events that are held in public places and this is where you will run into big crowds. You get the chance to meet people new and old and you never know who might be eyeing your shiny new iPhone from a distance.
The spokesperson added that the holiday season is all about having fun and sharing the good news everywhere. However, you would be surprised to learn that the holiday season makes people forget the common measures needed to prevent theft.
